Indonesia and South Africa are members in the Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa (BRICS).

JAKARTA – President Prabowo Subianto and South African President Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation during a meeting at the State Palace on Wednesday (22/10).

In his remarks, Prabowo Subianto said Indonesia seeks to deepen its collaboration with South Africa, which is part of BRICS. “We will see even closer cooperation ahead,” he stated.

Prabowo added that Indonesia views South Africa as a potential strategic partner for future cooperation.

Meanwhile, President Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa expressed his appreciation for Indonesia’s warm welcome and congratulated the country on hosting the 70th anniversary of the Asian-African Conference (AAC) in Bandung this year.

Ramaphosa also conveyed his intention to forge closer ties with Indonesia as a fellow BRICS member. “We encourage Indonesia’s deeper participation in BRICS, particularly in economic partnerships,” he said.

He added that Indonesia’s presence in BRICS could serve as a catalyst for stronger economic cooperation between the two nations. (LK/KR/ZH)
