The long-stalled Chuo Shinkansen high-speed maglev line finally got the green light from holdout Shizuoka Prefecture on July 7, allowing the much-anticipated project to move forward.
Environmental concerns relating to the construction of Central Japan Railway’s maglev line had led to debates over the project and contributed to years of subsequent delays.
