[ワシントン １７日 ロイター] – トランプ米政権の当局者は１７日、イランとの紛争が台湾への武器供与を遅らせたり、米国の台湾政策を変更させたりはしていないと、連邦議会の議員らに対して述べた。
スタンリー・ブラウン国務省政治軍事局首席次官補代理は、下院外交委員会の公聴会で「台湾への物資の輸送を遅らせたか？ そんなことはない」と断言した。
米国とイスラエルは２月２８日に対イラン攻撃を開始したが、この作戦により、米国の防衛産業が需要に追い付けず、台湾などの購入先への出荷を遅らせざるを得なくなるのではないかという懸念が生じている。
イランとの紛争が始まる前から、米から台湾への武器の納入には既に数十億ドル規模の未処理案件が積み上がっていた。ブラウン氏は、納入を迅速化する方法を検討していると述べたが、具体的な内容については明らかにしなかった。
