[ワシントン ３０日 ロイター] – 米国とイランの軍事衝突を巡り、米戦争権限法に基づく議会報告の期限が迫る中、トランプ政権高官は３０日、停戦により同法上の敵対行為は「終結した」との見解を示した。
トランプ大統領は５月１日にイラン戦争を終結させるか、延長の必要性を議会に説明する期限を迎えるが、期限が来ても戦争の行方が変わる可能性は低いとみられている。
同高官は「戦争権限決議の目的上、２月２８日に始まった敵対行為は終結した」と述べた。３週間以上前に停戦が始まって以来、米軍とイランの間で交戦は起きていないと指摘した。
１９７３年の戦争権限法は軍事行動について、６０日以内に、１）終了させるか、２）議会の承認を求めるか、３）軍の安全のため「やむを得ない軍事上の必要性」を理由に３０日間の延長を求めるかーーのいずれかを行うよう大統領に義務付けている。
イランとの戦争は、イスラエルと米国が２月２８日に実施した空爆で始まった。トランプ氏は４８時間後に議会へ正式に通告し、５月１日が６０日間の期限となっている。
