[ワシントン １２日 ロイター] – トランプ米大統領は１２日、自身の外交・移民政策をローマ教皇レオ１４世が批判したことを受け、教皇は犯罪対策に「弱腰」だなどと強く非難した。
自身の交流サイト（ＳＮＳ）「トゥルース・ソーシャル」に「教皇レオは犯罪対策に弱腰で、外交政策においても最悪だ」と投稿した。
教皇は米国とイスラエルによるイランへの軍事作戦を公然と批判する立場を取っており、今月にはトランプ氏がイラン情勢を巡り「今夜、文明が滅びる」と発言したことについて、イラン国民に対する警告は「容認できない」と述べた。
また、トランプ米政権下での移民の扱いについて「深い反省」を呼びかけている。
トランプ氏は「レオは教皇としてもっとしっかりすべきだ」と投稿。その後記者団に対し、自身は教皇の「大ファン」ではないと語った。
