[パリ/ブリュッセル １６日 ロイター] – 欧州連合（ＥＵ）欧州委員会のブルトン委員（域内市場担当）が１６日、辞任を表明した。同氏の辞任を受け、仏政府はセジュルネ外相を次期欧州委員候補とする方針を明らかにした。
６月の欧州議会選挙に続きＥＵの政治的権力移行において予想外の展開となり、今後５年間ＥＵの意思決定機関における重要なポストが分割されることになる。
ブルトン氏はフランス出身で過去５年間、域内市場に関する政策を担当してきた。再任が決まったフォンデアライエン欧州委員長が今週、新体制を発表する直前での辞任となった。
ブルトン氏はＸに投稿した辞表で、フォンデアライエン氏が数日前フランスに対し、「個人的な理由で」ブルトン氏を委員の候補から外すよう求め、代わりに「より影響力のあるポスト」を配分することを提案したと主張した。統治に疑問があることを示す新たな証拠だとし、もはや職務を遂行できないと指摘した。
ブルトン、フォンデアライエン両氏の関係はここ数カ月で悪化していた。関係筋によると、リベラル派のブルトン氏は、フォンデアライエン氏が中道右派「欧州人民党（ＥＰＰ）」の次期委員長候補に選ばれたことを公然と批判し、フォンデアライエン氏を怒らせたという。
