［ワシントン ２８日 ロイター］ – 米国を国賓訪問中の英国のチャールズ国王とカミラ王妃は２８日午前、ワシントンのホワイトハウスに到着し、トランプ米大統領とメラニア夫人の出迎えを受けた。国王はトランプ氏と会談後、午後に米議会で演説を行う。
トランプ大統領はホワイトハウスで開いた歓迎式典で、米英両国の強固な絆は今後も長く続くと「強く確信している」と述べた。
国王は米東部時間午後３時から議会で演説を行う予定。王室関係者によると、演説は約２０分間の予定で、米英両国の深い結びつきのほか、両国の同盟関係が世界の安全保障や繁栄にもたらす意義に焦点を当てたものになる。北大西洋条約機構（ＮＡＴＯ）やウクライナ情勢にも触れる可能性があるという。
