Ulaanbaatar, October 22, 2026 /MONTSAME/. Mongolia and Germany held a joint science day in Berlin to review a century of cooperation in education and research and to explore new opportunities for innovation and joint scientific projects, as part of President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa’s State Visit to the Federal Republic of Germany.
Organized by the Ministry of Education of Mongolia and the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) of Germany, the “Mongolian-German Science
Day” brought together more than 100 researchers, scientists and university leaders
from the two countries.
The event marked the first time a science forum had been
organized as part of a Mongolian president’s state visit, highlighting efforts
to build on the countries’ 100-year history of cooperation in education and
science and strengthen research partnerships for the future.
Participants included Enkh-Amgalan L., Minister of Education of Mongolia; Regdel D., Member of Parliament and Academician; Lodoiravsal Ch., Presidential Adviser on Education, Science and Technology Policy; Demberel S., President of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences; and Marcus Pleyer, State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space of Germany.
A key part of the forum was the selection of outstanding proposals
under the GM-MEET competition for scientific ideas and joint projects. The proposals
covered climate and sustainability research, engineering and materials science,
health research, and archaeology.
Each selected project will receive up to EUR 35,000 in
funding and run for 12 months, starting in the first quarter of 2027.
University rectors, professors and representatives of
research institutions also discussed future cooperation in education, science
and innovation, with a focus on expanding partnerships between institutions in
both countries.
