2025年8月29日(金)から9月7日(日)まで開催される「第21回大阪アジアン映画祭」のオープニング作品に、ジュディ・オング主演の映画『万博追跡』(2Kレストア版)が決定した。

アジアの歌姫 ジュディ・オング主演映画！ 55年の時を経て大阪に降臨！2025大阪・関西万博の会期に合わせ、初めての夏開催となる第21回大阪アジアン映画祭。大阪にとっての特別な年を盛り上げるべく、1970年の大阪万博を背景に、ジュディ・オングが主演を務め、華麗なミュージカル、アクションを融合させたスペクタクル・エンタテインメント映画『万博追跡』(2Kレストア版)を世界初上映。あわせて1970年の大阪万博の高揚感が伝わってくる、『万博追跡』を用いた第21回大阪アジアン映画祭のキービジュアルと、本映画祭プログラミング・ディレクター暉峻創三のコメントが解禁になった。
6400万人以上の来場者を魅了した1970年の大阪万博を舞台に、台湾パビリオンのコンパニオンに合格した少女が、かつて自分を助けてくれた名も知らぬ台湾の恩人を探すべく駆け回る、音楽、ダンスが鮮やかなスペクタクル・エンタテインメント映画『万博追跡』。
台湾、日本、アジアを席捲し、国際的スターとして絶大な人気を誇る歌手・俳優のジュディ・オングを主演に起用し、彼女の光り輝く存在感と歌唱が本作の魅力のひとつになっている。華麗なミュージカル、アクションを融合させたサスペンス追跡劇が、明るい未来感に溢れた実際の万博会場でも撮影され、70年当時の高揚感、臨場感が映し出されている。
本作の製作から55年後の2025年に再び万博が開催されている大阪で、大阪が最も熱くなる映画祭である大阪アジアン映画祭のオープニング作品として、『万博追跡』(２Kレストア版)のワールドプレミア上映が決定した。
オープニング作品『万博追跡』は、8月29日(金) ABCホールにて上映。上映前には豪華ゲストを迎えてオープニング・セレモニーも開催する。

■■ 暉峻創三 ／ 大阪アジアン映画祭プログラミング・ディレクター ■■
1970年大阪万博を主たる舞台にしたジュディ・オング主演の台湾映画『万博追跡』を初めて目にしたのは、2000年頃のことでした。以来、この凄い映画をなんとか日本でも紹介したいと願い続けてきましたが、当時見た上映用プリントは状態がボロボロ。願いの実現は諦めかけていました。そんな本作を、2025年万博の時期に開催される大阪アジアン映画祭のためにデジタル修復するという大英断を下してくださったのが、國家電影及視聽文化中心（TFAI：Taiwan Film & Audiovisual Institute）です。映画祭開幕作品としての世界初上映が、『万博追跡』とTFAIのクラシック作品修復事業への国際的注目を飛躍的に高める機会となることを期待しています。
