Hydrangeas through a Train Window
Now, it’s time for hydrangeas in Japan. Originally native to Japan, hydrangeas have gained global popularity, blooming with a range of colors in early summer. Hydrangeas planted along the track of Hakone Tozan Railway start blooming in mid-June. During the season, trains on the Hakone Tozan line are nicknamed “hydrangea trains.” You can enjoy viewing those flowers from a window as you ride on the slowly ascending train. Until mid-July, the blooming peak also travels up the mountain as elevation increases. From June 12th to 30th, sections of the track are lit up after sunset so that you can see illuminated hydrangeas. It may be a good idea to include the train ride in your next Hakone trip. Why don’t you take the train and enjoy the flowers planted so close to the rail track? Children as well as rail fans would be interested in the “hydrangea train” ride. 車窓からのあじさいを楽しんでみませんか
あじさいの季節になりました。あじさいは日本原産ですが、今では海外でも広く栽培され、初夏を彩る花として人気を集めています。箱根登山電車沿線のあじさいも6月中旬頃から開花の時期を迎えます。この時期の箱根登山電車は「あじさい電車」の愛称で親しまれ、山をゆっくり登りながら進む電車の車窓からあじさいを楽しむことができます。標高が上がるにつれ、見ごろの場所も7月中旬にかけて少しずつ上っていきます。6月12日から６月30日の夜間はライトアップされ、幻想的なあじさいも鑑賞できます。箱根観光の一案として、車窓に触れるほど咲き誇るあじさいを登山電車から楽しんでみませんか。お子様や鉄道好きの方にもおすすめです。詳しくは以下URLをご覧下さい。
