JAKARTA – The Indonesian Air Force said it had sent 22 personnel to Spain to study the operation of the A400M transport aircraft. This was revealed by the Head of the Indonesian Air Force Information Service (Kadispenau) First Marshal of the Indonesian Armed Forces I Nyoman Suadnyana.
When confirmed in Jakarta, Saturday, he explained that the 22 personnel consisted of flight crews to technicians who would carry out treatment.
“A total of 22 personnel and will return home at the same time as the arrival of the A400M in Jakarta,” explained I Nyoman, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, October 25.
He added that the transport plane is scheduled to come to Indonesia on November 3, 2025.
The plane will be immediately received by Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin to be handed over to the Indonesian Air Force.
I Nyoman hopes that the presence of the A400M transport aircraft can strengthen Indonesia’s air power.
Previously, the Ministry of Defense had signed a contract for ordering two Airbus A400M aircraft for the Indonesian Air Force in a multirole tanker and transport configuration.
The contract, which was signed on the sidelines of the Dubai Airshow 2021 event, will be effective in 2022, which includes a complete maintenance and training support package. On that occasion, the Indonesian Ministry of Defense also signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) for the acquisition of four A400M in the future.
The A400M is reliable for tactical transport and delivery of personnel and goods for landing on various terrains. For strategic transportation, the A400M can transport heavy and wide-dimensional logistics goods and equipment. This aircraft’s maximum transport space can accommodate loads of up to 37 tons.
A400M is the first large airlifter capable of transporting heavy loads such as fuel trucks with a capacity of 80 tons and excavators.
In addition, this aircraft is capable of transporting 116 personnel with complete equipment ready for combat, and is also capable of transporting Patriot Launcher and Hemtt Truck, 9 Military Palettes along with 54 personnel at once.
