[ワシントン ５日 ロイター] – 関係筋によると、米国は、諜報活動やミサイルなど、北大西洋条約機構（ＮＡＴＯ）の通常防衛能力の大半を２０２７年までに欧州が引き継ぐことを望んでいると、国防総省当局者が今週、ワシントンで外交官らに語った。一部の欧州当局者の間からは、２７年までという期限は非現実的との声が上がったという。
米当局者を含む協議に詳しい５人の関係者らが語った。米国の方針は、ワシントンで今週開かれたＮＡＴＯ政策を担当する国防総省職員と複数の欧州代表団の会合で伝えられた。
国防総省当局者は会合で、２２年のロシアによるウクライナ侵攻以来、欧州が防衛力強化に向けて進めてきた進歩に米国はまだ満足していないことを示唆した。
関係筋によると、米当局者は、欧州が２７年の期限を守らなければ、米国はＮＡＴＯの防衛調整メカニズムの一部への参加を停止する可能性があると各国当局に伝えたという。
