Herleshausen – Maersk has successfully launched operations in a newly developed logistics center in Germany. While the almost 12-metre-high racks on the more than 62,000 sqm storage space in Herleshausen (state Hessen) have been filling up quickly with products of all kinds since August, outbound operations have started only now with the onward distribution of the goods to German and other delivery centers of an online retailer.
The space leased by Maersk on a long-term basis in the “Panattoni Park Bad Hersfeld Ost” offers a total of 71,800 square meters of state-of-the-art logistics space, of which 62,800 square meters are for warehouse use, 2,900 square meters for offices and 6,100 square meters for mezzanine. The warehouse is located directly on the A4 motorway and thus on one of the most important east-west tangents and right in the centre of Germany.
Herleshausen is the ideal location as a central hub for the flow of goods within Germany and into the neighboring European markets. Within the strong growth of our Contract Logistics Business this is the next addition to our warehouse footprint in Germany and continues to support our Integrator focus.

Once fully ramped up, the warehouse will offer between 300 and 400 permanent jobs. During the peak season in online retail between October and December, there will be a total of up to 1,000 employees to keep the seamless flow of goods running. Today, 150 employees are working at the new Maersk site in Herleshausen with more hiring ongoing every day.
The warehouse is equipped with solar panels, a rainwater collection system and charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. Dedicated well-being areas help employees to relax during breaks. The warehouse is aiming for a DGNB Gold certification.
