[シドニー ３日 ロイター] – カナダのカーニー首相が３日、アジア太平洋歴訪の一環でオーストラリアに到着した。１月の演説で世界秩序の「断絶」に言及した同氏は、「ミドルパワー（中堅国）」である両国の関係強化を目指す。
カナダ首相府は訪問に先立ち、両国が防衛・海洋安全保障、重要鉱物、貿易、人工知能（ＡＩ）などの分野で協力を深める見通しだと述べた。
カーニー氏は豪議会で演説を行い、アルバニージー首相と会談する予定。アルバニージー氏は先週、カナダについて「何世代にもわたる信頼関係に基づく最も親しい友人」の一つと述べ、国益促進に向けた緊密な関係構築を呼びかけた。
カーニー氏は１月に世界経済フォーラム年次総会（ダボス会議）で行った演説で、ミドルパワーの連携を訴えた。
４日にはシドニーのシンクタンクで講演する予定で、世界秩序の変化や、豪加などミドルパワーにもたらされる機会について述べるとみられる。
