[ブリュッセル ２８日 ロイター] – 欧州連合（ＥＵ）欧州委員会のドムブロフスキス欧州委員（経済・生産性担当）は２８日、米大手決済企業への域内の依存を減らすため、独自のデジタル通貨（ＣＢＤＣ）「デジタルユーロ」を早期に発行する必要があると述べた。
欧州中央銀行（ＥＣＢ）は２０２０年からデジタルユーロ導入に取り組んでいるものの、政治的緊急性の欠如や銀行業界からの反発を受け、進展が遅れている。
ただ、トランプ米政権がグリーンランド領有問題などで経済的圧力を行使する姿勢を示したことから、問題意識が高まった。
現在、域内のカード取引のうち約３分の２は米ビザ(V.N), opens new tabとマスターカード(MA.N), opens new tabが手掛けており、ドムブロフスキス氏はこうした状況がＥＵを脆弱（ぜいじゃく）にしていると指摘した。
同氏は「ＥＵ経済への技術的な支配力をこれほどまで他国に委ねることは、われわれが自律的に動く能力を阻害しかねない。レジリエンスと経済安全保障に対する真の脅威となっている」と述べた。
