［１日 ロイター］ – 米国務省は１日、中国が台湾、その他の地域で行っている軍事活動は「不必要に緊張を高めている」とし、台湾に対する軍事的圧力を止めるよう求めた。
中国人民解放軍は昨年末も台湾を取り囲む形で大規模な軍事演習を実施した。
米国務省道官は声明で「中国政府に対し、自制し、台湾に対する軍事的圧力をやめて意味のある対話を行うよう求める」と述べた。
台湾の頼清徳総統は新年演説で、中国が威圧が強める中、主権を守り、防衛力を強化すると表明した。
この演説後、中国国務院台湾事務弁公室の報道官は「頼氏の演説は、嘘と無謀な主張、敵意と悪意に満ちている」と述べた。国営放送ＣＣＴＶが報じた。
